Carlton Central Junior School Choir was established in 2008 and has taken part in a number of concerts both locally and regionally. We have been fortunate enough to perform with the Halle Orchestra at the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham, on several occasions from 2009 – 2014 singing “Believe” & “Refuge”. We have also participated in three hugely successful Gedling Schools’ Music Festivals in July when five schools join together for Gedling’s Got the ‘X’factor – we were even winners in 2014 – well done Lorik! These concerts also include a massed pupils choir.
Mrs Hall plays the piano at all our concerts – we’ve had many joint concerts when we have been joined by members from the Nottinghamshire Deaf Society, Dream, Bestwood Male Voice Choir, Carlton Male Voice Choir, Newstead Brass & South Notts Silent Singers. In November 2014 we performed two thoroughly enjoyable WW1 commemoration concerts alongside Carlton Male Voice Choir.
Previously, our choir were also delighted to perform two musical extravaganzas where we were joined by the Major Oak Chorus & the Special Blend Quarter at our ‘Sing Out Loud’ and ‘Sing into Spring’ Concerts. The highlight of the both evenings were joint finale performances of ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’ and ‘Teach the Children to Sing’. A selected group from the choir joined with other local schools to perform at the Royal Concert Hall in October 2013 to raise funds for the Nottingham Hospitals Charity.
At Christmas, the choir sang with Mr Vernon Coaker M.P. to record his Christmas Message.
